AC Milan to walk out of 'all matches' if racially abused

8:43 am on 6 January 2013

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, who owns football club AC Milan, says the team will walk off the pitch at every match where black players are racially abused.

Mr Berlusconi was speaking after AC Milan abandoned a friendly game with a lower league team following racist chants directed at Ghanaian international Kevin Prince-Boateng, the BBC reports.

He has made it clear that he fully supported his players' decision to leave the pitch.

An Italian news agency has reported Mr Berlusconi as saying that from now on, AC Milan would abandon even its biggest games if its players were racially abused.

His remarks come amid widespread support for the team's actions.
