US Civil War movie leads BAFTA nominations

US Civil War drama Lincoln leads this year's BAFTA nominations with 10 including best film and best actor for Daniel Day-Lewis.

Co-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field are shortlisted for best supporting actor and actress.

The musical Les Miserables and Life of Pi by Ang Lee both have nine nominations.

Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman are nominated for lead actor and supporting actress categories in Les Miserables.

Political thriller Argo received seven nominations with Ben Affleck nominated for best director and best actor.

Zero Dark Thirty by Kathryn Bigelow is also nominated for best film.

Dame Helen Mirren is nominated for best actress for her role as Alfred Hitchcock's wife in Hitchcock.

Bond film Skyfall has eight nominations, including best film and best supporting actor for Javier Bardem and best supporting actress for Judi Dench.

Other nominees in the best film category are The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Anna Karenina, Les Miserables and Seven Psychopaths.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has three nominations - for make up and hair, sound and special visual effects.

The awards ceremony is on 10 February in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
