Al-Jazeera reporter killed by sniper

An Al-Jazeera reporter was shot dead by a sniper in the Syrian province of Daraa on Friday.

The channel named him as Mohammed Hourani, who was active in the revolt against President Bashar al-Assad before joining Al-Jazeera.

He was the second reporter to be killed by snipers in 24 hours. A French journalist was shot dead in the city of Aleppo on Thursday.

At least 20 professional journalists are believed to have been killed in the conflict so far, and many civilians who have filmed the fighting.
