Shopping shuttle rule changes suggested

Hong Kong wants tougher rules for visitors from southern China who are shuttling in and out of Hong Kong to stock up on baby formula.

Some are crossing the border from the Chinese maninland several times per day, causing a shortage of the formula.

Tourism agency chief James Tien Pei Chun is suggested that their visitor permits allow them to come no more than once per day.

The rush is apparently sparked by several health scares involving contaminated Chinese-made infant formula, which in China is regarded as a luxury gift.
