5:06 am on 4 February 2013

Players called Hartley and Poole scored one goal apiece for their English League One football side, Hartlepool.

It's believed to be the first time two players with surnames that make up the name of their team have scored in the same game.

Peter Hartley and James Poole gave their side a vital 2-1 win over Notts County.

Poole opened the scoring in the fifth minute but County levelled early in the second half. Hartley scored 20 minutes from time.

"It's been a long time since we won at home,'' said manager John Hughes afterwards. ''We'll go and enjoy it tonight."

The team previously had seven successive home defeats. The club was formed 105 years ago.
