A grass fire south of Ballarat in western Victoria has destroyed at least one house and injured four firefighters.

The 1300 hectare blaze is travelling south at Dereel and is expected to burn through another 300 hectares overnight.

Fire Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley says four firefighters were treated for superficial burns after their truck was caught against a tree in the path of the fire.

The Country Fire Authority says up to a dozen more buildings could be affected.

Emergency warnings have been issued for Dereel, Corindhap and Mount Mercer, and a watch-and-act message for other nearby communities.

Meanwhile, firefighters are trying to control a bushfire near Mirboo North in eastern Victoria, before a wind change in the next few hours.
