Screen Australia is promoting more than 30 films at the Cannes Film Festival.

Makers of The Rocket announced on Friday it has secured a release in North America.

Screen Australia said The Rover by Animal Kingdom director David Michod starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce, was also attracting plenty of interest.

"Cannes .... is also the most important film market in the world," Screen Australia head of marketing Kathleen Drumm told AAP.

"What we're doing is supporting the efforts of producers to screen their films in the market, to pitch new projects and we're also profiling films that are upcoming or in pre-production."

Other Australian films screening this week for buyers include The Jungle, Adoration, starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright, and 100 Bloody Acres, a comedy horror film.

The Railway Man, starting Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth, and Wolf Creek 2 are also in the works.

Tau Seru by Victorian College of the Arts graduate Rodd Rathjen is an entry in the festival's short film competition.

''It's very interesting to see how the industry works on an international scale,'' he said.
