Another asylum seeker boat intercepted

An asylum seeker boat carrying 207 people has been intercepted north of Christmas Island by Australia.

Home Affairs minister Jason Clare said the vessel sought assistance on Saturday morning.

AAP reports 204 asylum seekers and three crew were believed to be on board.The ABC reports it was one of the biggest stopped by border protection agencies this year.

The group was taken to Christmas Island for initial security and identity checks.

Three boats carrying a total of 208 asylum seekers were intercepted close to Christmas Island on 24 May.
