A five-storey residential block in the Indian city of Mumbai partially collapsed on Monday on the second day of monsoon rains in the city.

At least 20 people are feared to be trapped but rescue operations are being hampered by heavy rain.

According to the NDTV news website, the residential building had a car showroom on its ground floor.

A picture on the website showed a mound of rubble between two buildings.

Two months ago, a seven-storey building collapsed on the outskirts on Mumbai, which killed 74 people.

The collapse of the partially-finished building highlighted widespread shoddy construction standards in India.
