Afghan civilian casualties rising - UN

The United Nations envoy to Afghanistan says there's been a 25% increase in the number of civilian casualties, compared with the same period last year.

Jan Kubis said more than 3000 Afghans have been killed or wounded since the beginning of the year, mostly by forces fighting against the Afghan government.

Mr Kubis said the casualties from improvised explosive devices and targeted killings have risen by more than 40%.
