Foreigners are eyeing New Zealand farms as they look for more stable investment options following the global financial meltdown and the collapse of some banks and financial institutions.

New Zealand real estate company Bayleys has formed an alliance with Smiths Gore, one of the biggest agricultural and rural property companies in Britain.

It is planning a roadshow in October with the aim of selling New Zealand farms, vineyards and horticultural properties to investors in England, Scotland and Wales.

Bayleys manager Richard Graham says there is growing interest from the United States and Asia as well.

He says overseas investors are keen to take advantage of a fall in rural property prices in New Zealand.

Mr Graham says investors have also picked up on a Government move to make the rules covering investment in New Zealand less restrictive and to speed up the vetting process.
