Legally Blonde the musical was a big winner at the annual Helpmann Awards at the Sydney Opera House on Monday night.
The ABC reports Legally Blonde won the best musical award, as well as best direction and choreography, while star Lucy Durak took out best female actor in a musical.
The musical King Kong won four design awards for costumes, lighting, sound and scenery, plus a special award for outstanding theatrical achievement.
Colin Friels won best actor for his role in Death of a Salesman and Geoffrey Rush picked up the best actor in a musical award for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
The Sydney Theatre Company's production of The Secret River won four awards, including best play.
The ABC reports the production also won the best new Australian work, direction of music and a play and best original score.
