Twerk, a provocative dance move, and 'selfie' which describes a photograph taken of oneself using a phone, are two new words added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
The dictionary has also added 'digital detox' and the social media meaning of the verb "unlike" in its latest update to reflect the increasing use of technology and social media.
Spokesperson Katherine Connor Martin said "twerk" has been around for 20 years but became very popular with pop star Miley Cyrus performing the dance at the MTV Video Music Awards this week.
