Police in Argentina have arrested a teenager suspected of heading a gang of computer hackers who targeted international money transfers and gambling websites.

The BBC reports the suspect was making $US50,000 per month working from his bedroom in Buenos Aires.

Police said it took them a year to close in on the suspect, who lived with his father, a computer expert, in Buenos Aires. High-capacity computers were found in his room.

"We think he and his brother had set up such a lucrative business that their parents chose not to ask what was going on," an investigator told Clarin, an Argentine daily newspaper.
