Police in Mumbai have begun a manhunt after a bomb suspect escaped from court.
Afzal Usmani is accused of involvement in bombings in Ahmedabad and Surat.
Police said he disappeared after being taken to the court for a hearing with other suspects in the case. He is still at large.
Nearly 50 people died in 17 blasts in Ahmedabad on 26 July 2008. The next day 22 bombs were found in Surat, but they were all defused.
The Indian Mujahideen group said it was responsible. The BBC reports that IM was declared a terrorist organisation and outlawed in 2010 after it was blamed for an attack on a bakery in Pune in which 17 people were killed and scores wounded.
