Hollande won't exempt football clubs from tax

7:06 am on 27 October 2013

French president François Hollande has rejected calls to exclude football clubs from a 75% tax on millionaires, despite a threatened strike.

The BBC reports Mr Hollande as saying he is open to dialogue, but the law is the same for all and he believes the French people understand this.

The clubs are staging their strike on the last weekend of November.

The tax is paid by employers, rather than the high earners themselves.
