Australian fridge factory to close

The Swedish-based Electrolux company says it will make 500 Australian workers redundant when it closes its refrigerator factory at Orange, in New South Wales in 2016.

Electrolux sells about 1300 fridges and freezers daily from the plant, under brands such as Westinghouse and Kelvinator.

The factory contributes more than $80 million to the Australian economy each year.
