Two French journalists who were snatched by gunmen in the northern Malian town of Kidal have been killed.
The bodies of Claude Verlon and Ghislaine Dupont, who were working for French radio station RFI, were found riddled with bullets.
The French Foreign Ministry and RFI have both confirmed the journalists were executed.
The pair were abducted from outside the house of a regional political leader, who they had just interviewed, the BBC reports.
The bodies were discovered about 12km outside Kidal.
French President Francois Hollande has described the killings as a despicable act and will meet ministers on Sunday to discuss the incident.
