The Olympic torch has returned to Earth in Kazakhstan after being taken on its first ever space walk.
A Soyuz capsule carrying the torch and three astronauts parachuted to Earth, landing in frosty conditions early in the morning on the Kazakh steppes.
The flame on the torch had to be extinguished during its visit to the International Space Station, the BBC reports.
The torch relay for the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia in February next year has already taken the Olympic flame to the North Pole.
