Bomb in Syrian government building

3:11 pm on 18 November 2013

A bomb at a Syrian government building near Damascus is reported to have killed 31 people, four of them generals. Explosives are said to have been placed in the basement.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the force of the blast completely levelled the building. Four of the dead were generals.

The BBC says there has been no confirmation by state media or by government officials, but the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the building was completely levelled.

Sunday's explosion happened in the suburb of Harasta, north-east of the capital.
