Reports from the Democratic Republic of Congo say a large number of civilians have been killed in an eastern village near the Ugandan border.
One unconfirmed report put the number of dead at 40.
The attack on Wednesday has been blamed on Ugandan rebels based in the country.
The International Committee of the Red Cross said the wounded were taken to Goma for treatment.
