State police in Victoria have arrested a woman for leaving a 17 month-old boy locked in a car in a shopping centre car park in Melbourne on Boxing Day.
The woman left the boy in the car at Doncaster for 1½ hours before she was found by shopping centre security guards.
Ambulance officers checked the boy and found him to be in good health.
The ABC reports the woman is expected to be charged with leaving a child unattended.
In October, a baby boy died after being left inside a car parked near a childcare centre in Perth.
As many as 50 children die each year as a result of being left inside cars in the United States.
