Stranded sea turtle recovering

A green sea turtle found stranded on a beach in Victoria on New Year's Eve is recovering in temporary accommodation.

AAP reports the turtle, which is believed to be at least 90 years-old, was rescued by park rangers near Lakes Entrance in Gippsland, after being stuck there for at least 24 hours.

Department of Environment and Primary Industries biodiversity officer Faye Bedford said the turtle was placed in a paddling pool before being taken to the Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium for specialised care.

The rescue went smoothly even though ''Eve'' weighs about 60kg, Ms Bedford said.
