Austrian Olympic ski jumping champion Thomas Morgenstern is now out of danger after a crash on Friday, but his participation at the Sochi Games remains unclear.
Dr Josef Obrist said in Vienna on Monday that Morgenstern, 27, was in a "stable condition", giving him the "definite all-clear".
The crash on the Kulm slope in Tauplitz occurred on Friday. It was Morgenstern's second in a month and he was briefly unconscious afterwards.
He lost balance in mid-air and landed heavily on his back and head before sliding to the bottom.
Morgenstern is one of Austria's leading gold medal hopes for the Sochi Winter Olympics which begin on 7 February.
