A man has appeared in court in Australia after a minister refused to perform a marriage because he said the groom was too drunk.

Musician Jacob Brookes had his stag night the day before he was due to tie the knot in Adelaide.

Police were called to the church and charged Brookes with disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest, the ABC reports.

He briefly faced Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday and denied after the hearing he had been too drunk when he turned up at the church.

The 41-year-old said he had only had three beers and two shots of whisky.
