Airline staff detained by families

12:30 pm on 26 April 2014

Relatives of people missing on Malaysian Airline flight MH370 held 10 members of the airline's staff for more than 10 hours in a hotel in Beijing late on Thursday.

The jetliner vanished on 8 March with 239 people on board while on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Most of the passengers were from China.

"Malaysia Airlines confirms that its staff were held at the Lido Hotel ballroom in Beijing by the family members of MH370 as the families expressed dissatisfaction in obtaining details of the missing aircraft," the airline said.

"The group finally released the staff at 1.44am, 25 April 2014," a statement said.

In another incident, the airline said a Chinese family member attacked an airline security supervisor on duty at same hotel on Tuesday.

An underwater search for traces of wreckage in the Indian Ocean off Western Australia has not been successful so far.
