In Melbourne, a group of parachutists were hit by a severe storm that swept over the city today.
Two parachutists had to be rescued from the water at St Kilda Beach and five others needed treatment after a team jumped into the sudden storm this afternoon, the ABC reported.
Three were treated by ambulance officers at the scene and two were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Ten millimetres of rain fell in the same number of minutes and the temperature dropped 10°C.
The State Emergency Service received at least 340 calls for help, mostly for fallen trees and building damage.
