The Scottish Government-organised summit in Edinburgh was to kick off a year-long commitment to promote breastfeeding.

However, a local newspaper said many women complained when organisers told them the stadium was "not designed to accommodate" them feeding their babies.

A Scottish MP described the decision as astonishing.

One attendee who was asked not to bring her baby said the "irony is unbelievable".

The Scottish Government said officials underestimated how many women with babies planned to attend and they had now arranged extra facilities.
