Awards for Boyhood at BAFTAs

The coming-of-age story, Boyhood, which was filmed by Richard Linklater, has won the awards for best picture and best director at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) in London.

The BAFTAs are seen as an an indicator of likely success at the Oscars later this month.

Eddie Redmayne won the leading actor award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.

Julianne Moore was named best actress, while Mike Leigh was presented with a BAFTA fellowship for a career of acclaimed movies.

New Zealand scriptwriter Anthony McCarten won the Best Adapted Screenplay for the Theory of Everything which he also produced.
