Video footage has been released urging Muslim extremists to attack shopping malls in the United States, Canada, Britain and other western countries.

Scentre Group, which operates 47 Westfield-branded shopping centres in Australia and New Zealand, said it was taking steps to keep its shopping centres safe.

This comes after a masked narrator of a 76-minute video concluded by calling on Muslims to attack specific shopping malls in England, the United States and Canada.

None in Australia or New Zealand was mentioned.
