Divine intervention takes time for trapped nuns

12:22 pm on 9 June 2015

A New Zealand woman is one of two nuns trapped in a lift at a convent in Rome for three days.

The lift at a Marist convent stopped because of an electrical failure and, despite the nuns praying and calling for help, divine intervention did not arrive.

But they say God works in mysterious ways and it was a humble cleaning lady who raised the alarm after her calls to the convent went unanswered.

The two nuns have been treated in hospital for dehydration.
