A police helicopter, and a veterinarian with a tranquilizer gun are searching for the animals in the village of Olderbekoop, in the far north of the country.

The village is home to the Felida centre, which receives big cats from circuses and zoos, treats them, and works to place some in a larger shelter in South Africa.
