The International Cricket Council has postponed the Champions Trophy tournament, which was due to take place in Pakistan in September.

The council says the tournament will be held in October next year. Pakistan has kept the hosting rights,

The event, originally scheduled for 12-28 September, ran into trouble after Australia postponed their a tour of Pakistan in the wake of suicide bombings earlier this year.

South Africa withdrew on Friday because of security concerns.

New Zealand Cricket says security advice it received on whether to send players to Pakistan was "disturbing".

Chief executive Justin Vaughan says the event was postponed because it was too late to move it somewhere else.
