Swing against WA state govt

1:32 pm on 7 September 2008

There has been a swing of 6% against the Labor government in West Australia in a state election.

Four of the 59 seats were still in doubt on Sunday.

The ABC reports the Liberal and Labor parties have both won 24 seats and the Liberals need the help of the National Party to form a government.

Opposition Leader Colin Barnett said on Saturday night the voters had rejected Labor and his party was ready to take office.

Labor's vote was also down in a recent election in the Northern Territory.
