Mix-up lands tourist in wrong country

An Argentine tourist got the wrong continent when she used the internet to book a holiday to Australia.

Monique Torres Aguero from Buenos Aires wanted to travel to the city of the harbour bridge and Opera House, but instead ended up in the former coal and steel mill town of Sydney in Nova Scotia.

The mix-up became evident when she boarded a small propeller plane in Halifax to take her on the last leg of her journey, the ABC reports.

It is not the first time Canada has welcomed tourists intended for Australia - in 2002 two Britons also mistakenly landed in Nova Scotia.

Sidney in British Columbia has reportedly received stray tourists from Germany and Czechoslovakia.
