Deadly shootings in Mumbai

Gunmen have opened fire at a number of sites in the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay), reportedly killing at least 10 people and injuring others.

Police said the shootings appeared to be terrorist attacks.

The BBC reports gunmen opened fire at seven sites including a train station and a restaurant popular with tourists.

Shootings were also reported near two hotels and at a hospital. At least two blasts, suspected to be grenade attacks, were reported.

Television stations show the lobby of both hotels on fire and people being evacuated

The Press Trust of India quoted police as saying that 10 people were killed and more than 30 people wounded in gunfire at the main railway station, Chhatrapati Shivaji.

The agency also reports three people were shot dead in at the Taj Mahal hotel in the Colaba district.

Another three people have died in is described as a "bomb blast" in a taxi in the southeast of the city.
