Prophet pictures prompt Facebook ban

Authorities in Pakistan have ordered all internet service providers to block access to the social networking site, Facebook.

The ban follows controversy over a competition on the website.

Users who wanted to enter were asked to draw caricatures of the Prophet Mohamed.

Islamic law prohibits the depiction of any prophet.

The competition prompted complaints from thousands of people.
