An explosion ruptured a gas pipeline in western Canada at the weekend.

It was discovered on Sunday at a metering shed at a well head site near the community of Tomslake.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said there no injuries or gas leakage.

It was the fourth explosion in three months involving natural gas facilities operated by Encana in British Columbia.

Encana is North America's biggest independent oil company, based in Calgary, Alberta.
