Granny movie stays on top of US box office

A pistol-packing granny movie topped the weekend box office in North America.

Madea Goes to Jail, a comedy about a tough-talking old lady has earned $US64.9 million in the past 10 days. Older black women are its main audience.

Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience was second for the weekend.

Slumdog Millionaire jumped two places to third place, following its eight Oscar wins last Sunday.

The low-budget, British-made romance set in Mumbai has now earned $US115.1 million in the United States.

In contrast, The Reader has earned $US27 million to date in the US. Milk has earned $US30.1 million to date.
