Malaria may be easier to eliminate, say scientists

Eliminating malaria in high-risk areas of the world may be easier than previously thought, say British scientists.

Officials at the Malaria Atlas Project says they were surprised to find that about half of the people at risk of the disease in Africa live in areas where it ought to be possible to bring transmission rates down almost to zero.

This, it was suggested, could be done with the help of simple, inexpensive techniques, such as using bed nets to guard against mosquitoes.
