Official figures show 2010 was Australia's third wettest on record.
The weather bureau's annual climate statement shows 11 months of last year received above average rainfall, the ABC reports.
It says the weather pattern La Nina was responsible for the heavy rainfall.
Despite the wet weather, the weather bureau says the decade ending in 2010 was hottest since records began more than a century ago.
Globally, 2010 was one of the hottest years on record.
