Madoff sentencing delayed

7:40 am on 15 May 2009

The sentencing of fraudster Bernard Madoff has been reset for the end of June.

The disgraced money manager has been behind bars since pleading guilty in March to a fraud that investigators say bilked clients of as much as $US65 billion over 20 years.

Madoff could be ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The presiding judge says because of the expected crowd, the sentencing will be held in a large ceremonial courtroom in the District Court in Manhattan.

The proceedings will also be shown by video in two overflow viewing rooms.
