A British woman attempting to become the first female to row solo across the Pacific Ocean has left Honolulu for Tuvalu.

Roz Savage, 41, hopes to reach Tuvalu in about 100 days.

She told the Honolulu Advertiser that her biggest challenge to completing the attempt will be crossing the equator.

The purpose of her voyage is to draw attention to environmental issues, with the latest leg focusing on climate change.
