A siege at a hotel in south Sydney is over. Police say a man has been taken into custody and is being taken to hospital.
A police officer was shot during the siege at the Lakes Hotel at Rosebery, where police say at least four people were held hostage for more than four hours.
The officer was shot in the right shoulder and taken to the Prince of Wales hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Assistant Police Commissioner Catherine Burn says none of the hostages are hurt.
"Throughout the siege people were released periodically and after the man surrendered, two people were located safe and they are now with police," she said.
Police were called to the hotel at 5.30am AEST.
