Svetlana Kuznetsova beat fellow Russian and world number one Dinara Safina to claim her first French Open title on Saturday.
Kuznetsova, 23, won 6-4 6-2 in 74 minutes on a chilly day in Paris. She previously won the 2004 US Open.
She was presented with the trophy by six times former winner Steffi Graf.
Safina, also 23, had won five of their last six meetings. They have been hitting partners since the age of 12.
