Seventeen bodies have now been recovered from the Atlantic Ocean where an Air France jet crashed last Monday.

Brazilian and French ships have recovered 15 more bodies, following the retrieval of the first two on Saturday.

Brazilian officials say four of the bodies are of men and four are of women. There is no word on the others.

Dozens of pieces of debris from the Air France plane have also been picked up.

They were found 1000km northeast of Brazil where Flight 447 disappeared with 228 people on board en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.
