Foreign troops killed in Afghanistan

5:11 am on 5 June 2011

Four foreign troops have been killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan.

A statement by the International Security Assistance Force did not give their nationalities.

At least 220 foreign troops have died in Afghanistan so far this year.

Earlier, ISAF said two Nato troops had been killed in the south on Friday.

The BBC reports fighting has intensified since the Taliban launched a spring offensive.

Saturday was the deadliest day for NATO troops since 26 May, when nine US troops were killed in three incidents.
