A ban of imports of kangaroo meat from Australia comes into effect in Russia on 1 August.
Russia has been Australia's biggest market for exports of kangaroo meat, taking about 70% of what is produced.
But a government agency that supervises imports has banned all roo meat, citing the detection of bacteria in a number of shipments.
The ABC reports the exports are worth $A270 million annually.
A rural lobby organisation, AgForce, says the ban will see kangaroo numbers explode.
