The defeated Sri Lankan rebel group, the Tamil Tigers, has accused the government of illegally seizing their new leader abroad.

Sri Lankan authorities announced last week that Selvarasa Pathmanathan had been arrested in an Asian country.

But the Tamil Tigers say he was abducted from a hotel in Malaysia and removed illegally to Sri Lanka. They have called for international action to protect him.
