Stop wearing suits, save power

8:54 pm on 5 September 2009

Bangladesh's prime minister has ordered male government employees to stop wearing suits.

With the country experiencing daily power cuts, the move is aimed

at saving electricity. Sheikh Hasina says there will be less need for air-conditioning if men stop wearing suits, jackets and ties to work.

Government ministers are also included in the edict. The BBC reports they will be expected to wear only shirts and trousers during the hot months between March and November.
